We are absolutely delighted to welcome as a guest, all the way from sunny Santa Monica, Hollywood comedy writer SHELLY GOLDSTEIN, with a workshop packed with giggles where you might pick up a few writing tips at the same time.
The workshop is aimed at professional writers as well as upcoming comedy writers, comedians and new talents in comedy and those interested in writing their first comedy. Producers working on comedy scripts may also wish to attend. Book it yourself or how about an early Christmas present treat for the writer in your life?
Shelly has written and produced in every major genre of film, TV and stage. While still a student at Northwestern University, Hollywood producer Garry Marshall came to see her play (Coming Attractions). It ran for two years in Chicago and Garry brought Shelly to Los Angeles where she started work as a television writer at Paramount and she has been a Hollywood based writer ever since.
A master of her craft, she has contributed to every major American network, as well as the CBC. As a Creative Supervisor for Sony Pictures TV, Shelly wrote and supervised the production of sitcoms and reality/game shows in the US, Europe, Latin America and Asia. Her work has ranged from drama, such as Forever Knight (CBS/CBC) to comedy (Tracy Ulman show), documentaries including the award-winning Behind the Music (VH1), to reality (special material and comedy work for dozens of stars including Sharon Stone, Justin Timberlake and Paula Abdul), to animation, Shelldon (NBC and worldwide 2011) to multiple Showbiz series for E!
Her feature film script work includes script and rewrite work for Steve Martin, Francis Ford Coppola and Steven Spielberg. Shelly is also a remarkable comedy performer and singer in her own right – her one woman shows, including ONE FINE DAY GROOVY GIRLS OF THE 60’s, have played to capacity crowds in leading LA and London venues.
Her screenplay, the political satire THE CUBAN MISSILE has just been optioned by Intellscape Films at Universal.
